As dawn broke, the anticipation of what lay beneath the surface filled me with excitement. With Richard Salas's professional guidance, I felt like I was on the brink of an extraordinary adventure in Hooded Nudi Bay. This hidden gem, bathed in the soft glow of morning light, promised perfect conditions for underwater photographs.
As I descended into the depths, a world of wonder unfolded before my eyes. Strands of kelp swayed gracefully in the currents, adorned with Hooded Nudibranchs, their delicate transparent forms creating a mesmerizing canvas to work with. I wanted to capture the surreal beauty floating all around me.
Lost in the rhythm of the ocean, I felt captivated by this new world of gelatinous life I found myself in. I had to stop taking photos and just be one with nature. It was as if time stood still, and I was transported to a realm that felt otherworldly.

Common names: Hooded Nudibranch and Lion Nudibranch
Fun Fact: When the hooded Nudibranch is taken out of water it gives off a sweet fruity aroma like watermelon! This is actually acts as a deterrent to predators.
God’s Pocket Marine Park
This undeveloped park is comprised of a group of islands at the entrance to Queen Charlotte Strait, including Hurst, Bell, Boyle, Crane Islands, and numerous smaller islets. The park provides some of the best underwater diving on the Pacific Coast. Most diving takes place in nearby Browning Pass, an area rated by the late underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau as one of the best cold water diving destinations in the world.
