Diving at Deception Pass

This buoy was inspired by my dive under the Deception Pass bridge. A beautiful scene above the water and breathtaking below. Diving here is something you carefully plan around tidal exchanges and plan with others who are familiar with the dive site. There was a window of opportunity to join a key group of friends with my dive buddy Don. Even at slack it proved to be a wild and powerful ride you respected. I was thrilled to experience the life below the bridge during that short time before it churned back into the turbulent channel of whirling currents it is best known for.

This upcycled buoy is 2-pieces to capture the beauty of the bridge structure above and the colorful life below the current. The large buoy was found along the Long Beach Peninsula on a family trip.
